Villa up bid to £4m as Charlie Adam hints he wants to leave Blackpool

Charlie Adam has said that he wants 'to play at the highest level' and a raft of clubs are after him[LNB] Aston Villa will return today with a third offer of £4m for Blackpool midfielder Charlie Adam.[LNB]Gerard Houllier has not been put off by Ian Holloway's rebuttal that Villa is 'a half-a***d club whose manager is on a sticky wicket,' and has tried once more after seeing his second bid of £3.5m rejected.[LNB]Adam has already told Blackpool privately that he wants to leave Bloomfield Road, and he raised the stakes yesterday by making his feelings public. [LNB]'The bottom line is that everybody knows I want to play at the highest level,' said the 25-year-old Scot. [LNB]'This has been a fantastic part of my life coming to Blackpool, being part of this club and working with this manager.'[LNB]Villa are prepared to haggle for Adam but there is a limit to which they will go with Blackpool said to want as much as £8m for a player who cost them £500,000 18 months ago. [LNB]Tottenham, Sunderland, Blackburn, Birmingham, Liverpool and Everton are also interested.[LNB]Meanwhile, Southampton have told Blackpool they will have to more than double their £200,000 bid to land Jason Puncheon.
