Villa reveal Houllier debut date

Aston Villa have announced that new manager Gerard Houllier will officially take charge of the club after this weekend's game against Bolton.[LNB] Kevin MacDonald has been the side's caretaker boss since Martin O'Neill's shock departure in the summer.[LNB]And the Scot's final game at the helm is to be at Villa Park on Saturday before Houllier takes the reins.[LNB]Villa have been waiting for former Liverpool coach Houllier to tie up his exit from his role as the French Football Federation's technical director.[LNB]And now Houllier, who has penned a three-year deal at Villa, will make his bow as manager in the Carling Cup clash versus Blackburn Rovers.[LNB]"It has been confirmed Gerard Houllier will take charge of the team after the Bolton game," said a club statement.[LNB]"He will be in charge for the Carling Cup game against Blackburn Rovers next Wednesday."
