Aston Villa are weighing up a double swoop for Tottenham midfield pair David Bentley and Jermaine Jenas. Spurs are ready to lower the £12million asking price forBentley as manager Harry Redknapp looks for the funds to sign Celtic's Scott Brown. Redknapp is also keen on Manchester City winger Martin Petrov, meaning a second player likely to be Jenas must also be shipped out.  An opening-day defeat to Wigan means Villa boss Martin O'Neill is keen to speed uphis recruitment plans. O'Neill is only willing to make a £6m down-payment for Bentley, who is on police bail having been charged with drink-driving after crashing his Porsche last week. The deal could rise to £8m with add-ons, while Jenas is likely to go for about £7m. In June Sportsmail revealed Villa's interest after Jenas slipped out of favour following the arrival of Wilson Palacios. Dynamic Scotland international Brown, 24, would be a direct replacement in central midfield.
