Villa defender Davies reveals career concern for injured skipper Laursen

Aston Villa's Curtis Davies is scared that his central defensive colleague Martin Laursen's career could be in jeopardy. Club captain Laursen will meet Villa manager Martin O'Neill on Monday to discuss his future at the club - but he is out for the rest of this season with a knee injury. Villa's performances and results have dipped alarmingly during the time that Laursen has been out, culminating in Saturday's 1-1 home draw with West Ham. The result effectively ended Villa's slim hopes of a Champions League spot. Davies said: 'He's the captain and the leader. He's a big, solidfigure and he's a big player for us. If he has to retire, it's amassive blow but more so for him. 'I'd love him to still be playing football. I really don't know too much about it.
