Veteran Senegalese international defender Habib Beye signed for Championship strugglers Doncaster Rovers from English Premier League side Aston Villa on Monday on a two month loan.

The 34-year-old former Senegalese captain - a member of the Senegal side that won the Africa Cup of Nations in 2002 and reached the World Cup quarter-finals later that year - has played just seven times for Villa since moving there from Newcastle in 2009.

Beye - who reached the 2004 UEFA Cup final with Marseille and moved to Newcastle for 4million euro in 2007 - is Doncaster manager Dean Saunders' sixth signing since he took over at the club in September.

Beye will join up with compatriot and fellow 2002 Africa Cup of Nations and World Cup veteran El Hadji Diouf, who signed on loan on a three year contract at the end of October.

Doncaster are presently bottom of the table six points adrift of safety.
