Aston Villa continued their pre-season preparations with a 3-0 victory over newly-promoted Peterborough United. Andreas Weimann, Curtis Davies and Steve Sidwell were all on target for Martin O'Neill's men at London Road. Austrian forward Weimann opened the scoring with a neat header midway through the first half from Marc Albrighton's cross. Curtis Davies provided the highlight of the match with the second goal eight minutes after the interval, the defender coolly slotting past James McKeown following a slick one-two with Marlon Harewood. Midfielder Steve Sidwell blasted home to complete the scoring 19 minutes from time as Villa boosted confidence ahead of the new campaign.
