Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neill is considering a £6million move for Newcastle defender Steven Taylor.
O'Neill is in the market for a centre-half after selling Zat Knight to Bolton and Martin Laursen decided to retire from football.
England Under-21 international Taylor has been chased by several clubs this summer but none met Newcastle's valuation.
However the 23-year-old is in O'Neill's price range and he will try to land him as part of a major signing push in the next few days, reports The Daily Mirror.
