Villa anxious over Petrov deal

Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neill is waiting to hear back from Stiliyan Petrov's agent after admitting he is 'very anxious' to tie the midfielder down on a new deal.[LNB] The Bulgarian's current terms are due to expire in the summer of 2010 and the Midlanders are keen to agree an extension.[LNB]Petrov, who signed for Villa from Celtic in 2006, has enjoyed an impressive season and O'Neill has confirmed discussions are under way over fresh terms.[LNB]"We are waiting to hear back from Stiliyan's agent," O'Neill told the Birmingham Mail.[LNB]"We have had a number of discussions now. Things are going fine at the moment, but then you never know.[LNB]"Obviously from the club's viewpoint we are very anxious for him to stay at the club.[LNB]"He has had a fantastic season for us, he is a real asset to the club and his performances this campaign have been consistently excellent."
