Tim Sherwood held his first press conference as Aston Villa manager today.
He wasn’t wearing one of these.
But he did at least wear one of these.
Sherwood – whose half-time team talk inspired Villa to victory over Leicester in the FA Cup this weekend – said he wanted his side to play with more freedom.
He made a point of putting a metaphorical arm around misfiring striker Christian Benteke.
But he was under no illusion that there would be one priority only for the rest of the season – Premier League safety.
Villa fans noticed an immediate difference after two and a half years with Paul Lambert in charge.
He smiled, he joked – he even seemed to get on with the press.
And suddenly, as if by magic, there was a feeling of positivity surrounding a team who had been as low as they come until just a few days ago.
Good job, Tim.
Next up, Stoke on Saturday…
