STOKE v Aston Villa: Fully fit Kenwyne Jones and Thomas Sorensen likely to start

10 September 2010 09:05
Striker Kenwyne Jones is fit to start for Stoke in their Barclays Premier League match at home to Aston Villa on Monday.

The Trinidad and Tobago international injured an ankle on the opening day of the season against Wolves and, after missing the home game against Tottenham, he returned at Chelsea but was not 100 per cent.

Return to fitness: Jones (left) had been struggling since picking up an injury on the first day of the season against Wolves

Goalkeeper Thomas Sorensen is hopeful of being able to play after missing Denmark's Euro 2012 qualifier on Tuesday because of an infection in an elbow problem he sustained against Wolves.

Transfer deadline day signings Eidur Gudjohnsen, Jermaine Pennant and Marc Wilson may have to settle for a place on the bench.

Provisional squad: Sorensen, Huth, Faye, Collins, Shawcross, Wilkinson, Whelan, Delap, Pugh, Etherington, Whitehead, Walters, Jones, Fuller, Pennant, Gudjohnsen, Tuncay, Wilson, Higginbotham, Begovic.
