Villa-bound? Spurs want to offload Robbie Keane

Tottenham are reportedly set to offer club captain Robbie Keane to Aston Villa in a bid to land striker John Carew.

Harry Redknapp will tell Villa they can have Keane for £5m plus Carew as the Spurs boss looks to get rid of the Irishman who he bought for £12m from Liverpool last year, reports The Daily Star.

Redknapp believes Carew can help Spurs' charge to fourth place in the Barclays Premier League and qualify for the Champions League.

The Star also says Spurs are willing to use winger David Bentley as part of a deal to sign Carew.

Keane's first-team chances have been restricted due to the strike impressive partnership of Jermain Defoe and Peter Crouch.

He also got in hot water with Redknapp for his role in organising a players' Christmas party in Dublin behind the manager's back.
