Email me your thoughts on the action at dan.ripley@dailymail.co.uk[LNB] Spain U21 1-1 England U21 (7.45pm) Spain U21: De Gea, Montoya, Botia, Dominguez, Didac, Thiago, Javi Martinez, Ander (Diego Capel 86), Mata, Adrian (Parejo 72), Jeffren (Bojan 81).Subs: Mino, Azpilicueta, San Jose, Nsue, Jose Angel, Victor Ruiz, Ruben Perez, Muniain, Marino.[LNB]Goals: Ander 14.[LNB]England U21: Fielding, Walker, Smalling, Jones, Bertrand, Cleverley (Sinclair 81), Henderson, Mancienne (Rodwell 67), Rose (Lansbury 67), Welbeck, Sturridge.Subs: McCarthy, Muamba, Albrighton,Tomkins, Cork, Delfouneso, Wickham, Steele.[LNB]Referee: Markus Strombergsson (Sweden) [LNB]21.40: From OptaJoe:[LNB]3 - England mustered more shots in the final 5 minutes of their #EuroU21 match against Spain than in the rest of the game. Belated.[LNB]21.37: No doubt who will be more satisfied with that point. England capitalised on the only chance they had late in the half, and their chances of progressing from this group all of a sudden look more rosy. Spain really will be kicking themselves that they didn't win this though.[LNB]Full-time: Spain 1-1 England[LNB]90min: Into added time and England are piling on the pressure. This is crazy stuff, Spain look liked they have lost their heads as England fire just over from the edge of the box.[LNB]88min: GOAL! Spain 1-1 ENGLAND[LNB]Liquid football from England! Walker scampers down the right flank and after cutting inside, slips a through ball for Danny Welbeck who calmly tucks away into the bottom corner. He is possibly offside but I would need to see that again, I knew my commentators curse would work![LNB]86min: Final sub from Spain as Diego Capel replaces Herrera.[LNB]85min: Five minutes left but this is one of the safest 1-0 games I have ever seen. England just can't inflict any venom in attack. This has been a master-class all over the pitch from Spain.[LNB]83min: Still all Spain. More passing leads to Mata receiving the ball on the edge of the box but his shot, despite a deflection, is easy meat for Fielding.[LNB]81min: Big cheers from the crowd as Bojan replaces Jeffren, while Scott Sinclair is on for Cleverley.[LNB]79min: England's closest sniff at goal this half. Sturridge looks like he is through one-on-one but De Gea and Dominguez do well to cover the striker off, and enable the keeper to comfortably take.[LNB]78min: Cheers of Ole from the crowd as Spain continue to just ping passes about short, long and across the pitch. It's impressive to watch at the very least.[LNB]75min: England have 15 minutes to get back into this but it's Spain who the more likely to score. De Gea has hardly had anything to do in the Spanish goal.[LNB]73min: A change from Spain as Daniel Parejo replaces Adrian.[LNB]72min: Spain go close again after some lovely crisp passing tears England apart, but Montoya slams the eventual shot wide at the far-post.[LNB]70min: Herrera enters the book after flying in late on Welbeck. No grudges held as they shake hands afterwards.[LNB]67min: Here comes the subs. Henri Lansbury is on for Danny Rose, while Jack Rodwell replaces Michael Mancienne.[LNB]66min: Welbeck is a lucky boy. His desperate lunge on Martinez at the halfway line is late and he is lucky to escape by only giving away a free-kick.[LNB]As Martinez over-reacts by clutching his leg on the floor, his team-mates start the card waving theatrics in vain. Bless them, they do learn young.[LNB]64min: England's big problem is they just cannot attack at pace. When they do get forward, it's just a depressing sight of red shirts back in huge numbers.[LNB]62min: It's the Tottenham boys showing the most promise as Walker and Rose both attempt crosses from the flank but there is not much else to cheer about in England's attack.[LNB]59min: I do worry about England from set-pieces. Once again Spain win a free header as Javi Martinez heads over inside the box from a corner.[LNB] Wipe out: Thiago (right) was booked for sliding in late on Walker[LNB]57min: Smart reactions from Frankie Fielding. Herrera's shot is deflected on the edge of the box and the stopper has to quickly change direction to tip the top-corner bound effort over the bar.[LNB]53min:...but at least they have the ball. Spain happy to see just how strong this England attack is as they let the Three Lions knock the ball around. The answer is not too much so far. [LNB]51min: Pearce must be thinking of changes here, Sturridge and Welbeck can hardly get a kick and Spain are defending very comfortably.[LNB]48min: Spain start the better side as the look to press for a second. No goalmouth action to speak of though.[LNB]Second-half: No complaints from England by the way concerning the controversial opening goal. No changes as we get underway again.[LNB]20.43: Believe it or not the Canadian Grand Prix has still not finished despite starting nearly three hours ago. Click here to find out why with coverage from our own Phil Duncan.[LNB]20.38: Right this has taken me plenty of slow motion replays, but there is a case that Herrera punched the ball to give Spain the lead.[LNB]No official, even if you had six of them behind the goal, would have been able to call that in normal time and it really does strengthen the case for video technology.[LNB]What is it with England, tournaments and dodgy referee calls? It's taken me just 45 minutes to bring up 'video technology.'[LNB]20.35: I would love to say the future is bright for English football but sadly it's Spain leading the way in Europe, the world and in youth it seems.[LNB]They have not exactly battered Stuart Pearce's side but have hardly been tested and England need a plan B.[LNB] Full stretch: De Gea (right) just beats Welbeck to a loose ball[LNB]Half-time: Spain 1-0 England[LNB]45+2min: So close to an equaliser! Walker's low cross is deflected by a centre-back towards his own goal, but De Gea does superbly to somehow dive full stretch to his right to flick it out for a corner.[LNB]45+1min: England ending the half stronger and after being crowded out inside the box, Sturridge gets a decent shot in at the near post which De Gea takes comfortably.[LNB]43min: More great play from Spain. Herrera chips a lovely lofted ball in for Juan Mata but Smalling does JUST enough to put the striker off getting a shot on goal six yards out.[LNB]40min: Decent chance for Sturridge. Rose's powerful cross is perfect for the striker to head in but he fails to make contact as De Gea and Co can only watch it zip off to safety.[LNB]38min: An even game but Spain still the more cunning going forward, I think England need a change of plan here, the Spaniards have this well under control.[LNB]35min: Harsh on Welbeck. The forward is booked after he dives in with a sliding tackle, despite winning the ball. It looks like it was the clumsy looking execution that forced the ref to take action...well I assume that's why, there wasn't anything else wrong with it.[LNB]34min: Great last ditch defending from Chris Smalling. Adrian is through on goal but the centre-back tracks him down well to poke the ball out for a throw in.[LNB]31min: Slightly desperate shouts for a penalty from Daniel Sturridge as he goes down from a slight push just inside the box, following a throw in.[LNB]In fairness you would probably win a free-kick in any other area of the pitch but referees very rarely gives those.[LNB] Closing down: Tom Cleverley (centre) challenges Thiago for the ball[LNB]29min: Some good attacking play from both sides but Spain just look much more threatening. They are certainly living up to their billing as favourites for this tournament.[LNB]26min: Interesting statistic from our friends at OptaJoe:[LNB]100 per cent - Javi Martinez has completed all 24 passes attempted in the opening 25 minutes for Spain U-21 v England. Precise.[LNB]24min: Walker is England's biggest threat and Spain know it as Thiago ruthlessly hacks out the full-back on the halfway line as he looks to bomb forward again. No surprises that he is booked.[LNB]21min: Kyle Walker attacks with pace down the flank but after laying the ball off to Tom Cleverley, his cross is well plucked out the air by De Gea. Positive stuff though.[LNB]20min: England still struggling to force through some opportunities but the Spanish side have resulted to knocking a few long balls forward. Very uncharacteristic play.[LNB]17min: Those young heads have dropped a bit, and Spain are playing with a lot more confidence. The result is Spain are well on top now.[LNB]14min: GOAL! SPAIN 1-0 England[LNB]Spain manager to win a corner of their own moments later and from it they pounce with Ander Herrera nodding home unmarked at the far-post after reacting first to a flick-on. Terrible defending.[LNB]12min: Just like the full side it's all pass, pass, pass from Spain but they are showing chinks in the armour, as Daniel Sturridge intercepts and starts a counter attack that leads to a corner following Henderson's deflected cross.[LNB]9min: Encouraging signs from new Liverpool signing Jordan Henderson as he cleverly chips a perfect through ball for Welbeck. But some smart defending means the Manchester United forward is eventually crowded out, and we will have to wait a little longer for our first chance of the game.[LNB] Tangled: England's Ryan Bertrand (left) tussles with Spain's Martin Montoya[LNB]7min: This is good stuff from England, they are not just booting it up the field when they do get the ball and are now having a passing spell of their own. Encouraging signs.[LNB]6min: England happy to let Spain boss possession but are keen to press when the Spaniards enter their half.[LNB]3min: What a disaster that could have been for Spain! After De Gea passes to Alvaro Dominguez, he looks horrified as he receives a dreadful pass straight back, and the Manchester United target has to react quickly to clear ahead of an alert and chasing Danny Welbeck.[LNB]2min: Not too much action to speak of, England playing in all-white are the slightly brighter side.[LNB]Kick-off: England get their tournament up and running. [LNB]19.43: Oh dear, I have just noticed we will be using that Jabulani ball again. Hopefully everyone has got used to it following the 'problems' many players had with it in South Africa last year.[LNB]19.40: As the national anthems are played (and impeccably observed) it was nice to see many of the England team singing their hearts out. No doubt encouraged by Pearce, who does likewise.[LNB]19.37: Supporters are packed into this stadium as the players make their way out...I'm sorry that's a lie. There are plenty of empty red seats for this one, but it's a lovely sunny evening in Herning.[LNB]19.34: Quite an attacking XI from Stuart Pearce, I just hope he doesn't pay for it by seeing his team ripped apart by the technical wizardry of the Spaniards.[LNB]19.31: Even Fabio Capello is in town for this one, I wonder if any of the players on show tonight can break into his England squad over the next year - there is a few positions up for grabs after all.[LNB]19.28: I opened with a slightly tongue-in-cheek remark about these kids being the golden generation for England...but just how good are they?[LNB]Some pre-match reading for you as Joe Bernstein gives his view.[LNB]19.25: While Manchester United target David de Gea does start. No denying his talent, but his fingers were quite heavily bandaged up just a couple of days ago, and his fitness must be questionable.[LNB]19.22: Few surprises in that Spain line-up, Barcelona wonder kid Bojan Krkic does not start and it's not because of injury. I really am scathing my head on that one, he could walk into the starting XI of many teams in Europe.[LNB] Deep in though: Stuart Pearce (right) and his assistant Steve Wigley look on pre-match[LNB]19.19: It's a far cry from last summer's World Cup where it seems everyone was playing for a draw, and what about that left-foot of Switzerland's Xherdan Shaqiri? Some teams are going to have to work on some tactics to neutralise that.[LNB]19.18: While yesterday in Group A I was left feeling a little shocked after Belarus defeated Iceland 2-0, and the host nation Denmark were defeated 1-0 by Switzerland.[LNB]19.15: These teams are the last to get their tournament up and running, with Czech Republic defeating Ukraine 2-1 earlier today to go top of Group B. [LNB]19.12: And here is the full line-ups:[LNB]Spain U21 v England U21Spain U21: De Gea, Montoya, Botia, Dominguez, Didac, Thiago, Javi Martinez, Ander, Mata, Adrian, Jeffren.
