Aston Villa full-back Nicky Shorey says he has 'not got a clue' if he will still be at the club next season. Shorey has endured a frustrating debut campaign at Villa Park after making 21 Premier League appearances following his arrival from Reading. Villa boss Martin O'Neill often preferred Luke Young at left-back during the second half of the season, leaving Shorey unsure of his future. "I haven't got a clue," Shorey told the Birmingham Mail when asked if he would be at the club next season.. "Who knows? It is not for me to say. We will have to wait and see what happens. "It has been ups and downs, but not the way I would have wanted it to go. "That's the way it goes in football and in life sometimes and you just try and take those experiences on board and try and make yourself stronger. "When you get new things thrown at you, you've got to try and deal with it. It is something I've not had before so it is nice to have finished on a positive." Shorey reclaimed his place in the closing weeks of the campaign following an injury to Young and is willing to stay if he is playing regularly. The England cap added: "I am a footballer and I want to play football. That is the bottom line. I am not going to go into details. "I want to play football for the full 90 minutes. "Do I like it at Villa? I like it when I am playing. You ask any footballer and he doesn't like it when he is not. That is the way it is."
