Ridsdale 'working on' January targets

The Bluebirds are looking to sign at least one player during the transfer window with Jones having up to £3million to spend this month.

Jones is thought to be on the look out for midfielders with the likes of Stephen McPhail (thigh) and Gavin Rae (broken fingers) out injured.

The Cardiff boss was present at Villa Park on Saturday to witness Aston Villa beat Blackburn 3-1 with Villa youngster Fabian Delph and Rovers midfielder Steven Reid supposed to be the subjects of his scouting mission.

"The manager was out watching players on Saturday and we fully intend to strengthen the playing squad as soon as possible," Ridsdale told WalesOnline.

"Dave has given me a list of players who would fit the bill and we are working on that."

Although any move for Delph and Reid is likely to be on loan Jones is determined to splash the cash in a bid to strengthen their promotion push.

"The chairman has promised that all the money that comes in will go to bringing in players," he stated.

"Up to £3million has been mentioned and if that's the case we could do a lot of damage with that.

"For the first time ever since I have been here we are able to push on during the January transfer window."
