Real wants European breakaway which could leave Spurs, City and Villa frozen out

Tottenham, Manchester City and Aston Villa's dreams of gate-crashing the Big Four could be over if Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has his way. Perez wants UEFA to sanction the idea of a European Super League which would mean the top clubs in Europe would play each other on a more regular basis as he believes this does not happen enough in the Champions League, reports The Sun. The Real chief does not want it to affect the Barclays Premier League or La Liga. But such a move could have serious implications on clubs who have aspirations of finishing in the top four such as Spurs, City or Villa. Perez said: 'What we need to work out with UEFA is a European Super League that guarantees all the top teams play each other all the time. That is something that does not happen in the current Champions League.'
