QPR 1 Aston Villa 1: Referee and 'disgraceful' Armand Traore feel full wrath of Warnock

25 September 2011 20:34
It does not take much for Neil Warnock to complain about referees. He has been the scourge of countlessmatch  officials during a career in management that has spanned three decades.[LNB]On Sunday, it was the turn of  Michael Oliver, the Barclays Premier League's youngest referee, to feel the full force of a Warnock rant. [LNB] Late leveller: Dunne bundles the ball into his own net with just seconds of the match remaining[LNB] MATCH FACTSQPR (4-2-3-1): Kenny 7; Young 6, Hall 6, Ferdinand 6, Traore 6; Derry 6 (Helguson 79min, 6) Faurlin 7; Wright-Phillips 6 (Smith 86), Barton 6, Taarabt 6; Bothroyd 5 (Campbell 66, 7).[LNB]Subs not used: Murphy, Orr, Buzsaky, Connolly, Helguson. It had all threatened to tip Warnock over the edge.[LNB]In the end, Warnock left with a pointafter Villa's Richard Dunne scored an own goal in stoppage time. But Traore's push on Gabriel Agbonlahor, which led to Villa's penalty, had set the fires raging. [LNB]'When I was a young man, my father refereed,' said Warnock. 'He always told me that you don't very often see a good referee. We did today. Two major decisions have gone against us. Not one Villa supporter behind our goal has appealed for that penalty. So you know there's something wrong. It's a very soft one.[LNB]'The referee has assured me he's seensomething. But Traore could have blown him over with the sort of contact we are talking about. And if he gives that, there has to be 20 to 30 penalties every game because there's loads more pulling than that in the box.[LNB]'The referee was in a good position for the handball. It was a save. The lad has moved his arm down. It's the most 100 per cent penalty you will ever see. All my lads are adamant. It's handball. How he (Hutton) got away with that, I'll never know. It was embarrassing.[LNB] Spot on: Bannan slams home the penalty which had looked like it would hand Villa all three points[LNB] Stalemate: neither side could break the deadlock in the first-half[LNB] [LNB]'As for the second one, we are told that if you raise your arms, then it's a penalty. He's raised his arms against Tommy Smith.' [LNB]Warnock went on to praise Oliver as 'one of the best referees' and absolved him of any blame for Traore's dismissal. The left-back had been cautioned for the slight tug on Agbonlahor's shirt that led to the penalty and then was deservedly dismissed for a crude lunge on Marc Albrighton. 'I thought the player was an absolute disgrace I'm going to fine him as much as I possibly can,' Warnock said. [LNB] Ministerial support: PM David Cameron watched the game with his son Arthur[LNB] [LNB]'It was amateur, Sunday League. Having said that, James Collins and Charles N'Zogbia both should have had second yellow cards.'[LNB]Warnock's frustrations started with a fifth-minute Adel Taraabt shot that smashed into the woodwork from 25 yards.[LNB] Away day blues: Villa's record on the road hasn't been great this season[LNB] But after a bright start the hosts fadedand, fired by a few well-chosen words from Alex McLeish, Villa were looking more dangerous when Steven Warnock's cross just eluded Agbonlahor. Oliver had a good view and decided to award a penalty, allowing Villa to take the lead.[LNB] Bone-cruncher: Barton goes down after a collision with Warnock[LNB] Shay Given then produced a fine stop from Shaun Wright-Phillips, before Shaun Derry's header from Taraabt's corner thumped into Hutton's right arm. Hutton was in the thick of it again two minutes from time when Smith's cross struck him on the same arm.[LNB]Luck didn't appear to be on QPR's side, but that changed when  Warnock's attempted clearance hit the retreating Dunne and went in.[LNB] Perseverance pays: The west London club earned a draw deep into time added on[LNB]'It was insipid in the first-half,' said McLeish. 'There were no forward runs, 15-yard passes were going astray and a few words were said at half-time. It was not acceptable.[LNB]'After the break, it was much better. I was surprised no-one complained about the penalty. Not a lot of our hands went up. But I did think Gabby was impeded.'[LNB] [LNB] I nearly quit as QPR boss before the start of the season, admits WarnockQPR 1 Aston Villa 1 - the action as it happened from Loftus RoadAffable Harry?
