The day's final game saw Villa defeat Everton in an entertaining encounter at Villa Park.[LNB] Premier League live scoresBolton 2-2 Birmingham FT[LNB]Liverpool 1-0 West Brom FT[LNB]Sunderland 1-0 Man City FT [LNB]Aston Villa 1-0 Everton FT [LNB]18.00: It started great and ended superbly, Bolton's fightback in the earlier kick-off set the tone for the afternoon, and Villa's win over Everton is arguably the best 1-0 game you will ever see.[LNB]Liverpool's season is finally up and running after their somewhat unconvincing win against West Brom.[LNB]But Roberto Mancini's City came crashing down to earth after Darren Bent's late late penalty stole three points for Sunderland[LNB]Thank your for following today's coverage that's all from me folks.[LNB]17.56: But a big win for MacDonald, who's side were everything they were not against Newcastle last week, mainly organised at the back and maybe he could still get the job after all.[LNB]17.55: What a superb game that was, Everton will never lose a game again playing like that and they will be scratching their heads how they have not got at least a draw today.[LNB]17.53: Full-time: Aston Villa 1-0 Everton[LNB]17.51: Oh my what a save that is! Louis Saha's low shot from inside the box is tipped just around the post by the 39-year-old Friedel who has frankly been brilliant.[LNB]17.50: It's cleared, but everyone for Villlais back, final minute it's a case of can Villa hold on.[LNB]17.49: Deep in to stoppage time another Everton corner.[LNB]17.48: All Everton, they will be just as dumbfounded as me as to how they have not scored today.[LNB]17.46: Injury time boards has gone up and there is five added minutes. The Villa fans, who have been superb, are up in arms and loudly let us know they are not amused.[LNB]17.45: Petrov's back on but now Stephen Warnock has gone down, and it is his turn to quickly receive treatment off the field.[LNB] England call? Arteta tried in vain to lead an Everton fight back[LNB]17.45: Stiliyan Petrov seems to have hurt his shoulder and he trudges off to get some quick treatment, meanwhile Everton continue their Villa bombardment.[LNB]17.44: Number 15....just five minutes to go for Villa to hang on, and now number 16![LNB]17.42: Another Everton corner...number 14. How they have not scored I just don't know.[LNB]17.38: Back up Villa's end we go and Everton win another free-kick, Villa clear their lines though and with 10 minutes to go John Heitinga comes on for Tony Hibbert.[LNB]17.36: While Everton are busy throwing men forward Villa are happy to play on the break.[LNB]Ashley Young finds himself in a one on two situation, but after failing to get past the Everton defenders attempts a chip which fails to trouble Howard.[LNB]17.35: The game is becoming stretched again, Everton are back on the attack and have won their eighth corner.[LNB]17.32: Lovely, lovely move for Villa which should have been a goal.[LNB]A move with neat short passes ends when Ashely Young forces Howard in to a fine stop from close range. But with the goal at his mercy Marc Albrighton's first time effort is mis-kicked over and wide, he had time to take a touch as well.[LNB]17.27: Cahill's free-kick clips the wall and as Saha jumps up to win a header, the ref blows for an Aston Villa free-kick, loudly and ironically cheered by the Villa fans.[LNB]17.26: Jack Rodwell can't continue and he limps off injured with Seamus Coleman on in his place.[LNB]Rodwell's injury is bad news all round with an England call-up doing the rounds in the rumour mill.[LNB] Last ditch challenge: Phil Jagielka's block enabled Tim Howard to parry away Young's shot[LNB]17.25: Interesting, Everton win a free-kick 25 yards out and they have quite a few people who can strike from that distance...half the team probably.[LNB]17.23: Villa who of course threw away a 1-0 lead at half-time midweek, bring on Gabriel Agbonlahor for John Carew.[LNB]17.18: End to end Stuff! Louis Saha from close range hits a fantastic volley which Friedel does superb to dive to his right and keep out.[LNB]17.16: But Villa go close! John Carew doeshis job and fires across Howard forcing the keeper to parry towardsAshley Young, with the goal at his mercy his shot's sting is taken outby Phil Jagielka who throws his body in the way allowing Howard to tidy up. [LNB]17.15: Sloppy play from Villa, and Eerton are now starting to assert themselves in this half as they pressure the Villa back line.[LNB]17.13: Right on cue, Jermaine Beckford makes way for Saha, so often the former Manchester United striker has turned a game in to Everton's favour.[LNB]17.12: Tempo has slowed down this half which seems to be playing in to Villa's hands as Loius Saha is getting ready to come on.[LNB] Tussle: Marc Albrighton of Aston Villa gets tackles Leighton Baines of Everton[LNB]17.10: Everton yet to really pressure Villa this half but they have started to boss possession in the last few minutes.[LNB]17.06: So far it's Villa starting brightly, Ashley Young charges towards the penalty area but lets fly form 30 yards out with an effort that sails just wide of Howard's goal.[LNB]17.01: Everton dominated the first half and were unlucky to go in to the break  a goal down, not often an away side dominate both periods so should be interesting to see how this final half pans out.[LNB]16.58: Liverpool stutter to their first win of the season but it all adds up come May so Roy Hodgson will just be delighted his season is finally up and running.[LNB]16.56: Full-time: Sunderland 1-0 Manchester City[LNB]16.54: It took a couple of minutes to take that penalty so we may have a tiny bit extra added on at the Stadium of Light.[LNB] Winner: Darren Bent converts his injury time spot-kick[LNB]16.53: GOAL! Sunderland 1-0 Manchester City[LNB]What drama! Sunderland win a penalty in the third minute of injury time, and after furious complaints from the City players Darren Bent powers home what has to be thew inning goal![LNB]16.51: Full-time: Liverpool 1-0 West Brom[LNB]16.49: We are in injury time in the 3pm kick-offs, I'm still shocked there has not been a goal at the Stadium of Light.[LNB]16.48: The difficult has turned virtually impossible for West Brom as James Morrison's over the top challenge on Torres sees him receive a straight red, he can't have too many complaints in truth.[LNB]16.48: Half-time: Aston Villa 1-0 Everton[LNB]16.47: One minute of injury time at Villa Park.[LNB]Off: James Morrison is sent off at Anfield[LNB]16.45: RED CARD (James Morrison, West Brom)[LNB]16.42: Having been under the Kosh Roberto Mancini has gone big and bold and brought on Emmanuel Adebayor for Joleon Lescott.[LNB]It's nearly provided a managerial masterstroke as only a superb point blank save from Simon Mignolet prevents the Togolese striker from making an instant impact.[LNB]16.35: Game is becoming very stretched at Villa Park and its a joy to watch, Everton for all their possession and territorial dominance can't quite pepper the Villa goal, but MacDonald's side are quick on the counter.[LNB]16.33: Shackles are off at Anfield and Liverpool are attacking with purpose, with another Torres volley smartly saved by Scott Carson.[LNB]16.28: Sunderland are starting to find some confidence against City, with Danny Welbeck looking dangerous since he came on, as he just fires over the bar from inside the box.[LNB]16.26: GOAL! Liverpool 1-0 West Brom[LNB]His first goal in 10 games and what a time for Fernando Torres to score, volleying home a Dirk Kuyt cross.[LNB]Lead by example: Sunderland skipper Lee Cattermole commits himself to challenging Micah Richards[LNB]16.22: Liverpool finally starting to apply some pressure Martin Skrtel has gone close for Roy Hodgson's side who of course are still looking for their first win of the season.[LNB]16.17: Steven Pienaar, so unlucky! the South African runs across the 18 yard box before attempting to curl it in to Brad Friedel's far top corner. The American can only stop and stare as it crashes off the bar and bounces away.[LNB]16.15: Bright start at Villa Park, where both sides have showed attacking intent and I think there will be a few more goals in this one yet.[LNB]Same can't be said at Anfield and the Stadium of Light which I haven't forgot about but it remains goal less in both games.[LNB]16.14: Slightly against the run of play that, but in the week Villa have had, who could begrudge them a tiny bit of fortune.[LNB] Mobbed: Villa players celebrate Luke Young's opener[LNB]16.11: GOAL! Aston Villa 1-0 Everton[LNB]Brilliant goal from the most unlikely of people, Luke Young makes a superb run in to the box, and Ashley Young picks him out superbly where the Villa defender smashes a left foot effort high past Tim Howard.[LNB]16.09: A certain Fabio Capello is in the crowd at Villa Park, a few Englishman out there he could be watching and of course Mikel Arteta.[LNB] Bit late: John Carew goes in for a challenge on Leighton Baines[LNB]16.06: Second-halves underway in the 3pm kick-offs, where we of course still await our first goal.[LNB]16.05: One late change to the Villa team as well, Stephen Ireland was injured in the warm-up so his place is taken by Nigel Reo-Coker.[LNB]16.03: Big day for Kevin MacDonald then, he has had two crushing defeats in the last week and another here will surely all but end his chances of becoming Villa's next full-time boss.[LNB]16.01: At Villa Park, the top flights most played fixture in history is underway.[LNB]15.56: Meanwhile Steve Bruce has a stirring team talk to give, his Sunderland side have battled well so far but it does not look like Campbell will be back out for the second half where Mancini's blues will no doubt be full flow in attack again.[LNB]15.54: Classic it is not at Anfield, neither side have made in-roads and it has been tedious and dull with no real chances to speak of.[LNB]15.53: Half-time: Sunderland 0-0 Manchester City[LNB]15.50: Half-time: Liverpool 0-0 West Brom[LNB]15.46: Sunderland still on the back-foot at the Stadium of Light, and Steve Bruce's side are not only being played off the park they are struggling physically.[LNB]Michael Turner and Frazier Campbell both needing the physio's attention, Bruce must be begging for that half-time whistle.[LNB]15.43: Half-time approaching the 3pm double headers and we remain goalless. I was looking forward to these fixtures before today, but judging by the lack of goal mouth action, give me Bolton - Birmingham any day.[LNB] Kop man: Fernando Torres (right) holds off Gabriel Tamas[LNB]15.39: Team news coming in from Villa Park for the 4pm kick-off:[LNB]Aston Villa v EvertonAston Villa: Friedel, Luke Young, Collins, Dunne, Warnock, Albrighton, Ireland, Petrov, Downing, Ashley Young, Carew. Subs: Guzan, Agbonlahor, Heskey, Reo-Coker, Cuellar, Lichaj, Bannan.Everton: Howard, Hibbert, Jagielka, Distin, Baines, Arteta, Fellaini, Rodwell, Pienaar, Cahill, Beckford. Subs: Mucha, Heitinga, Bilyaletdinov, Saha, Gueye, Osman, Coleman.Referee: Michael Jones (Cheshire)[LNB]15.33: The contest is even at Anfield with West Brom comfortably dealing with Torres and co so far, same can't be said for Sunderland who have their backs to the wall dealing with the Manchester City attack but crucially still no goals.[LNB]15.31: Half an hour gone in the 3pm kick-offs and still no goals to speak of.[LNB] Car-los for words: Carlos Tevez rues missing a sitter against Sunderland[LNB]15.27: Fantastic second-half at the Reebok sees Bolton grab a late draw which they deserve in all honesty, never giving up even at 2-0 down with a man down.[LNB]15.25: Full-time: Bolton 2-2 Birmingham[LNB]15.23: All Birmingham in five minutes injury time, Jerome forcing Bogdan in to a point blank save as the Trotters are now hanging on.[LNB]15.17: A winner they nearly get as well. Davies storms in to the area but with the angle decreasing on the right slices his shot wide, have to make the keeper work in them situations.[LNB]15.15: They deserve it as well, Bolton have bossed this second period despite having only ten men.[LNB]They are going for the winner now as well, as Kevin Davies is booked for persistent fouling.[LNB] Pick that out! Robbie Blake scores Bolton's equaliser[LNB]15.12: GOAL! Bolton 2-2 Birmingham[LNB]What a fantastic free-kick that is! Robbie Blake scores his first goal for a Bolton, with an epic strike from just over 20 yards out that Ben Foster was not going to reach in a month of Sundays.[LNB]15.09: Mark Davies replaces Stuart Holden, as Bolton look to complete what would be a fantastic come back, in fairness they have continued to battle on ever since the sending off and have played some good stuff.[LNB] Rising high: Darren Bent contests a header with Kolo Toure[LNB]15.07: Moments later Larsson is down and he is not getting back up, with McLeish sending on Keith Fahey to see out the last 15 minutes.[LNB]15.03: We are underway in the 3pm kick-offs as Sebastian Larsson is booked for Birmingham.[LNB]15.00: GOAL! Bolton 1-2 Birmingham[LNB]It's a soft penalty but Bolton won't complain, Roger Johnson and Kevin Davies both contest a header but incredibly referee Kevin Friend penalises Johnson for leaning on the Bolton striker.[LNB]Kevin Davies takes full advantage netting his 100th league goal with a cool penalty in to Foster's top left corner. You don't save those.[LNB]14.59: PENALTY! (Bolton)[LNB]14.58: No heorics this week from Elmander, with Robbie Blake coming on for him, while McFadden, who has been excellent, makes way for Matt Derbyshire.[LNB]14.55: Another great chance for Bolton and arguably a penalty. Lee heads down in to the six yard box and with Gretar Steinsson brought down by Lee Bowyer just as he was about to tap it in. [LNB]Bowyer was holding down on Steinsson's arm and I have seen them given many a time.[LNB]14.52: Bolton to their credit still have not gave up in this one and are probably the better side right now with most of the play in the Birmingham half.[LNB]14.50: Ten minutes until kick-off at Sunderland and at Anfield where we have some more team news:[LNB]Liverpool v West BromLiverpool: Reina, Johnson, Skrtel, Carragher, Agger, Kuyt, Poulsen, Lucas, Jovanovic, Gerrard, Torres. Subs: Jones, Pacheco, Kyrgiakos, Maxi, Babel, Spearing, Kelly.West Brom: Carson, Olsson, Tamas, Jara, Shorey, Morrison, Mulumbu, Dorrans, Brunt, Odemwingie, Fortune. Subs: Myhill, Tchoyi, Pablo, Barnes, Reid, Wood, Cox.Referee: Lee Probert (Wiltshire)[LNB]14.46: What a pivotal moment that could be. Lee Chung-Yong has obviously been watching McFadden as he plays through a delightful ball in to the box for Johan Elmander, but the striker fluffs his lines and his volley is tame, weak and straight at Foster.[LNB] Goal rush: Craig Garder scores for the second week running[LNB]14.40: GOAL! Bolton 0-2 Birmingham[LNB]James McFadden again clips in a ball to the Bolton box and again City beat the offside trap, as Cameron Jerome heads across goal to Craig Gardner who does his best to miss but eventually fumbles the ball in the net. Bolton staring down the barrel.[LNB]14.34: Teams back out at the Reebok, is there anyway back for 10 man Bolton?[LNB]With Jaaskelainen's red card in mind his four direct red cards equal the Premier League record for a goalkeeper set by Czech Republic's Pavel Srnicek from 1994 to 1999, thanks to InfoStradaLive once again.[LNB]14.31: Team news from the Stadium of Light: [LNB]Sunderland v Man CitySunderland: Mignolet, Ferdinand, Turner  Bramble, Richardson, Elmohamady, Henderson, Cattermole, Malbranque, Campbell, Bent. Subs: Carson, Bardsley, Zenden, Riveros, Welbeck, Colback, Waghorn.Man City: Hart, Richards, Toure, Kompany, Lescott, Adam Johnson, De Jong, Toure Yaya, Barry, Milner, Tevez. Subs: Given, Zabaleta, Wright-Phillips, Adebayor, Silva, Vieira, Jo.Referee: Mike Dean (Wirral)[LNB]14.25: In case of confusion, it does not look like a penalty was given because Jaaskelainen was fouled by Johnson before his reaction so it was a Bolton free-kick first.[LNB]The referee did wave platy on initially but he looks to have brought play back after the incident.[LNB]Finn-ished: Jaaskelainen's slap on Johnson led to his straight red card[LNB]14.20: Large boos from the Bolton fans, Whether it's at their team, Jaaskelainen alone, the ref, Johnson or the team mascot I haven't a clue, could even be directed at all of them...maybe apart from the mascot.[LNB]14.18: Half-time Bolton 0-1 Birmingham[LNB]14.16: Three minutes injury time at the Reebok Stadium and with Lee Bowyer and Roger Johnson both receiving bookings themselves following Jaaskelainen's sending off it's worth noting Bowyer conceded his 96th yellow card in the Premier League, further extending the all-time record for the competition. Thanks to our friends at InfoStradaLive for that one.[LNB]14.12: Alex Bogdan comes on for Martin Petrov, who have strangely played better since Jaaskelainen's dismissal continuing applying the pressure  on the Birmingham defence. [LNB]14.09: Fool, idiot call him what you will, but he has to go. Roger Jonhson jumps up with the Bolton keeper and after knocking him over goes to say sorry...until Jaaskelainen loses it and lets out an angry slap at the City defender, no brainier sending off and Owen Coyle will be fuming with his experienced keeper who should know better.[LNB]14.08: RED CARD (Jussi Jaaskelainen)[LNB]14.06: What a strike that would have been. Craig Gardner storms down the right and after floating in a cross to the far post an unmarked James McFadden makes good contact with a left foot volley but it's straight at Jussi Jaaskelainen, who comfortably takes.[LNB]Move of the match so far and either side of the Bolton keeper and it was a certain goal.[LNB]14.02: Bolton have finally come to life pressuring Birmingham through corners and free-kicks but they haven't tested Ben Foster enough in the Birmingham goal.[LNB] Under pressure: Carr holds Petrov off the ball[LNB]13.57: Incidentally after scoring a league goal every 8.8 games with Wycombe & Cardiff, it has taken Roger Johnson 41 games to score for Birmingham. Thanks to opta for that stat attack.[LNB]13.53: Watching that penalty shout again, it's actually comical how Cameron Jerome goes down, poor attempt t trying to win a spot-kick. Bolton starting to edge this encounter which has been far from a classic.[LNB]13.50: Penalty shout for Birmingham, Cameron Jerome goes down after a free-kick in to the Bolton box, but in truth he has gone down far too easily, and the ref rightly allows play to go on. [LNB]13.46: Quarter of an hour gone, and Bolton still have not really got going yet, Ben Foster having very little to do.[LNB]13.42: Lucky boy. Stephen Carr makes a complete hash of a Kevin Davies knock down, by slipping and letting in Martin Petrov, the full-back though recovers to block the Bulgarian's eventual strike.[LNB]13.38: Birmingham have conceded first in both their Premier League games this season but no problems at the moment they have settled in well.[LNB] Dream start: Roger Johnson put City in to the lead after four minutes[LNB]13.35: GOAL! Bolton 0-1 Birmingham[LNB]I admit it wasn't directly from a free-kick, but it is well worked, Lee Bowyer does well to beat the offside trap and as he lays the ball across goal, Cameron Jerome can't quite make full contact but Roger Johnson can as he stabs home outside the six yard box.[LNB]13.34: Two words. Head tennis. Both sides looking for the long ball at the moment, but Bolton have already gave away a couple of free-kicks in their own half, you won't get away with too many of them against City.[LNB]13.30: In fact on a larger look at the crowd there are A LOT of empty seats, as the home side kick things off.[LNB]13.27: Teams are out in sunny Bolton, but it hasn't attracted a capacity crowd, quite a few empty seats among the Reebok Stadium.[LNB]13.24: However Alex McLeish has gone cautious today, probably off the back of eight Premier League defeats in their last 10 away games, going with a 4-5-1.[LNB]Bolton remain unchanged, if Johan Elmander scores today he will equal his entire goal tally from last season.[LNB]13.22: Birmingham did well to come back from a goal down to defeat Blackburn, with Ben Foster saving a penalty along the way.[LNB]13.20: Back to those impressive wins, Bolton did superb to weather an early West Ham storm before taking their chances in clinical fashion at Upton park to record a 3-1 win.[LNB]13.14: Both these sides remain undefeated so far having both drew their opening game and win their second, in quite impressive fashion as well.[LNB]13.04: Team news from the Reebok Stadium:[LNB]Bolton v BirminghamBolton: Jaaskelainen, Steinsson, Cahill, Knight, Robinson, Lee, Holden, Muamba  Petrov, Elmander, Kevin Davies. Subs: Bogdan, Taylor, Mark Davies, Ricketts, Blake, Alonso, Andrew O'Brien.Birmingham: Foster, Carr, Johnson, Dann, Ridgewell, Larsson, Gardner, Ferguson, McFadden, Bowyer, Jerome. Subs:  Taylor, Murphy, O'Connor, Derbyshire, Fahey, Zigic, Valles.Referee: Kevin Friend (Leicestershire)[LNB]13.00: Greetings, it's only been three games but already the cream are rising to the top in the Premier League with Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United occupying the top three spots after cruising to comfortable victories in yesterday's matches.[LNB]But at the bottom of the table lie a couple of teams who have yet to get going this season.[LNB]Defeat for Liverpool today will see them remain winless,  18th and in the relegation zone, while a Liverpool win could see their Merseyside rivals Everton drop in to the bottom three if they fail to beat Aston Villa.[LNB]Team news on the way throughout the afternoon but first up Bolton Wanderers v Birmingham City.[LNB]Email me your thoughts on all the action today at dan.ripley@dailymail.co.uk.[LNB] Going well: Johan Elmander and Kevin Davies have helped Bolton get off to a good start in the Premier League[LNB] Premier League live: Follow the action as it happensManchester United 3 West Ham 0: LIVE news as it happens from Old TraffordMan United 3 West Ham 0: Rooney hits the spot as Reds coast to win[LNB]
