Petrov poised for Villa talks
Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neill has confirmed he will hold contract talks with Stiliyan Petrov 'very shortly'.[LNB] Petrov's current deal is due to expire in the summer of 2010 and O'Neill has made no secret of his desire to retain the midfielder's services.[LNB]The Bulgarian, who signed for Villa from Celtic in 2006, has also stated that he is keen to pen fresh terms, with discussions looking imminent.[LNB]O'Neill said: "I have spoken to Stiliyan's agent and we would be hoping to be speaking (to Petrov) very shortly.[LNB]"I spoke to him before we went out to Dubai recently for a training break and we will be having a meeting sometime in the very near future.[LNB]"After a difficult start at the football club, Stiliyan was determined to show he could make an impact in the Premier League and he has been excellent for us."[LNB]
