Paul Lambert claims relegation-threatened Aston Villa are 'not playing badly'

Paul Lambert insists Aston Villa are 'not playing badly', despite seeing the team slip into the relegation zone.

Following defeats by both Manchester giants over the past two weekends, the midlanders entertain Arsenal on Saturday having won just one of their last eight Premier League fixtures. The Villains were thrashed 5-0 at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday and manager Lambert told the Birmingham Mail:

"It's not where you want to be, nobody wants to be there but you have to bounce back and keep going.

"There's a long way to go. These lads are giving us everything they've got.

"Manchester United, Manchester City and Arsenal are three massive games on the bounce but we're certainly not playing badly that's for sure.

"They'll be fine, they always have been. I'll just lift them again and they will bounce back.

"The performances haven't been too bad but against Man United, City and Arsenal you're going to have to play to your top ability against them.

"There's an awful long way to go but we'll certainly keep going. Of course five-nil is never an easy result to take but this won't hamper our progress."
