O'Neill lauds Albrighton

Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neill has tipped teenage midfielder Marc Albrighton to have a bright future. The 19-year-old was one of the stars of the show for Villa during their recent Peace Cup success. The tricky winger was on target against Mexican side Atlante, laid on a goal for Emile Heskey against Porto and ran Italian giants Juventus ragged in the final of the pre-season tournament. He may be forced to bide his time before he becomes a first-team regular at Villa Park, with O'Neill still expected to add fresh faces to his squad before the new season gets underway. Albrighton has, however, caught his manager's eye, with O'Neill admitting he has been mightily impressed by the youngster's progress of late. "Albrighton had a fantastic tournament," he said in the Daily Star. "I don't think there would be anybody else in the other teams here, Real Madrid, Juventus, that would come close to what Albrighton did for us. "As time goes on Albrighton will get stronger and fill out."
