O'Neill expresses burn-out fears
The likes of Agbonlahor and Milner are set to be involved in England's European Under-21 Championship campaign this summer, meaning they will get very little of a break.
Villa have played over 50 games this season having taken part in the Intertoto Cup last July and O'Neill has raised his concerns over the fitness of some of his squad for next term.
"We have some members of our side who will be involved in the England Under-21s competiton in Sweden, so when they arrive back for pre-season they will maybe have had four or five days off and that's just not enough. It is an impossibility," O'Neill told Sky Sports News.
"So what we will have to try and do for next season, we will have to monitor them, give them time off during the time when they would have been actually training with us.
"You are talking about James Milner and Gabby Agbonlahor, those two players who will be hopefully be involved in the Under-21 campaign, but who have played loads and loads of games, high-level intensity as well, and have had very little breather this season.
"So what they will need at the end of this season is a bit of a break before they go back again.
"Otherwise the football club suffers from burn-out, no question about that."
