O'Neill disappointed by Aston Villa's indifferent away form this season

Martin O'Neill refuses to accept blame for Aston Villa's worrying away form after the Midland's outfit followed up their surprise 2-1 defeat at Blackburn with a 1-1 draw at  Wolves on Saturday.[LNB]The Wolves result raised eyebrows just a week after O'Neill's men had defeated Chelsea at Villa Park. [LNB]'I thought we were absolutely ready for the  game,' said the Villa boss, reflecting on the disappointment at Molineux. 'We have had a free week this week with no real distractions. [LNB]'We played a little game for some of the players who needed a little bit of football and Habibe [Beye] and Nicky [Shorey] got injured but, outside of that, we were ready.[LNB] Happy clapper: O'Neill says he's not to blame for Villa's away form[LNB]'On the face of it, it looks like two points dropped because we have got  ourselves in front but we are away from home. I take all responsibility for us at home but not all the onus is on us away.[LNB]'We still tried to play it and, when things broke down [for Wolves] in the second half, we broke very quickly indeed. I am disappointed but I don't think of it as playing against a lesser side.'[LNB]O'Neill admits the lethargic start Villa made to the game, when they  were quickly put on the back foot by ambitious Wolves, had a bad effect on his side. [LNB] Getting ahead: Agbonlahor slots home to hand Villa the lead[LNB]'We wanted to get into our stride pretty quickly but it was a nothing first half for us,' said the Northern Irishman. 'We couldn't get it down and control it and I am not so sure that was all to do with the opposition. [LNB]'We were unable to impose ourselves and I wouldn't want to read a lot into it other than we weren't good enough.' [LNB]Pondering: O'Neill thinks Villa lacked a killer instinct[LNB]Villa's lack of killer instinct in the final third was another worry. [LNB]O'Neill  reflected: 'We got ourselves into a couple of decent positions and, unlike us  this season, we were unable to deliver. I think we have to get some more movement in the six yard box.[LNB]'Sometimes is it difficult with Gabby [Agbonlahor] and Ashley [Young] being so quick, you are maybe leaving midfield players behind. But it is a responsibility to try to get  more goals and that is what we will try and do.[LNB]'We have played nine games and the season is still in its infancy. I came to watch Wolves a couple of games ago against Portsmouth and then saw their DVD against Everton. I expected it to be a better footballing game and it never got  going.[LNB]'There are different styles throughout the course of the season and you have to adapt. Greg Halford came on and he throws it almost as far as the boy at Stoke [Rory Delap].[LNB]'But I think we have got stronger defensively and you have to start from there.'[LNB] Wolves 1 Aston Villa 1: Ebanks-Blake smashes in leveller to deny VillaEverton boss Moyes runs the rule over Middlesbrough's wanted man JohnsonLiverpool 2 Manchester United 0: Fernando Torres and David Ngog get reds back on rack as Nemanja Vidic is sent offWOLVERHAMPTON WANDERERS FC
