Milner keen to push Gunners

James Milner believes Aston Villa can overtake Arsenal in the race for a UEFA Champions League spot. Villa had been in pole position to finish fourth until a recent run of poor results, with three consecutive losses leaving them three points adrift of the Gunners. Arsene Wenger's men also have a superior goal difference and appear to be finding their best form after an inconsistent campaign. Milner is nevertheless refusing to concede defeat and he has urged his team-mates to keep the pressure on Arsenal. The 23-year-old midfielder accepts that Arsenal are in control of their own destiny but feels they could drop points, with games still to come against the top three. "We cannot allow their lead to get too large but we were six points ahead of them not long back and they pulled it around so there is no reason why we cannot do it to them," Milner told the Birmingham Mail. "Every game in the Premier League is tough. It doesn't matter what anyone else does, it is down to us to get as many points on the board as are available. "There are eight games left. If Arsenal win all eight fourth place is theirs and good luck to them. All we can do is concentrate on ourselves." Villa may have stuttered slightly of late but Milner thinks supporters should look at the season as a whole. "If we had started badly and were flying now then everyone would be on a high," he explained.
