James Milner has warned Gareth Barry not to expect a warm welcome when he returns to Aston Villa tonight. The England internationals were team-mates at Villa Park until Barry joined Manchester City in the summer for £12million - after 12 years with Midlands club. Villa fans slammed 28-year-old Barry for signing a five-year deal at City after the midfielder had insisted he wanted to play in the Champions League. Barry wrote an open letter to supporters in a local paper explaining his decision but winger Milner admits his friend will still probably be booed. 'It's up to the fans what sort of reception they give him,' Milner told the Daily Mirror. 'I just hope he gets a good one but it's down to each individual - each to their own. 'Football's all about opinions and everyone thinks differently about teams and players. 'I can only say what I feel: that he was a great player for Aston Villa and did a lot for the club. He played for the club for a very long time, served the club brilliantly. 'He's obviously a top quality player, who has come through the ranks and it's not only about what he's done, it's about the help he's given the other young players coming through who have had the chance to learn off him. 'I certainly learned a lot off him and he gave great service to Aston Villa.'
