McAllister sets priorities
Caretaker boss Gary McAllister insists ensuring Aston Villa finish the season on a high note is at the foremost of his thoughts rather than his own future.
McAllister was appointed as assistant-manager by Gerard Houllier who continues to recuperate from the heart problem suffered a fortnight ago. Villa anticipate finding out by the middle part of next month whether Houllier will be fit enough to return to work.
If he decides to quit, it would place a question mark over whether McAllister and his other backroom staff would be surplus to the requirements of any new manager.
When asked if concerned about his own future, McAllister said: "No, I've got a job to do and I can't let myself wander and start thinking about that.
"I think that would be selfish.
"My concern certainly in the recent games before Gerard had a bit of a problem was that we had enough points to pull away from the bottom of the table. Now it's purely getting Villa as high up the table as we can from the final three games."
