Martin O'Neill is the No 1 candidate to replace Fabio Capello as England manager

Fabio Capello has proved such a success with England, bringing belief and tactical discipline to a dressing room crying out for an authority figure following the witless Steve McClaren era, that the FA does not need to make a decision until after the 2010 World Cup, possibly even Euro 2012. Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger would have significant backers but the FA knows neither would take the role and O'Neill has admirers within Soho Square and the squad. England fans' dedication is also seen in official tour plans that read: overnight flight, afternoon in Almaty, evening match, overnight flight back. [LNB]Just to give the fans something to talk about on the seven-hour flight out, the FA informed them that "the Kazakhstan FA have indicated that tickets may not be printed in time for us to send to our supporters before they travel''. [LNB]Let us hope the fans' visit goes more smoothly than the FA inspection committee last week: on arriving to check on the grass, Capello's scouts found it hidden under a foot of snow. [LNB]
