Mackail-Smith heads north for verdict

Peterborough have sent striker Craig Mackail-Smith to Manchester United's training ground in a bid to cure his long-standing groin problem. The 25-year-old has missed the club's pre-season campaign so far thanks to the injury and manager Darren Ferguson has called on his father Sir Alex in a bid to help. He said: "Craig went up to Manchester United on Saturday morning purely because they have the facilities to run tests quicker than we can. "They looked at him closely up there and they have an idea what it might be, but Craig will have a couple of scans this week to find out for sure. "We are not panicking, but we need to get to the cause of the problem and sort it."
