MacDonald: I'll play Milner in Europe

Aston Villa caretaker boss Kevin MacDonald has admitted that he is prepared to play Manchester City target James Milner in Europe.[LNB] The England international is wanted by big-spending City, but the move has stalled because of negotiations over the possible inclusion of Stephen Ireland in a player-plus-cash deal.[LNB]MacDonald played Milner in last Saturday's Premier League-opener against West Ham and he scored in a comfortable victory.[LNB]And Villa's temporary manager is ready to repeat the act against Rapid Vienna in the Europa League on Thursday, even if it means the ace is then cup-tied.[LNB]"I won't be naming a Europa League squad until Tuesday or Wednesday," said MacDonald in the Daily Mirror.[LNB]"James is a top player and if he's available I will consider him.[LNB]"If we were going to stop him playing then we should have stopped him playing in the Premier League.[LNB]"I think there's probably more chance of him getting an injury in a Premier League game because of the physical contact.[LNB]"So I just think if James hasn't gone to Manchester City by the middle of the week, I'm sure he'll want to play, because he just loves playing football as you saw out there against West Ham."
