After appearances for England at Under 21 level and a further seven for the senior team, Luke Young might have felt a debt of gratitude towards the Football Association. [LNB]International recognition, and the valuable experience and coaching that comes with it, must have done him a fair bit of good over the years, not least in raising his profile and attracting interest from the four Premier League clubs he has served. As an England footballer, the Aston Villa full back can certainly command a bigger salary. [LNB]But on Wednesday it emerged that Young, now 30, had retired from international football, rejecting calls from England manager Fabio Capello to join up with his squad not once, but twice in the last year.
