Kyle Walker races into England line-up

Imagine a full back with the defensive qualities of Gary Neville and attacking instinct of Ashley Cole. Fabio Capello will not have to fantasise about that for much longer. [LNB]Kyle Walker is set for his England debut after the Tottenham defender, who is on loan at Aston Villa, was handed a shock call-up for England's friendly in Denmark on Wednesday. [LNB] Villa thriller: Walker is ideal full back[LNB]Glen Johnson remains Capello's first-choice right back, but doubts over the Liverpool star's defensive play linger. Now it seems England may have finally found a replacement for Neville.[LNB] 'I've always looked up to Neville. He's not the quickest and isn't really like an Ashley Cole in terms of getting forward,' said Walker. [LNB]On target: Walker scored Villa's second goal[LNB]'But not many people beat him and you're not going to stay at Manchester United all your career if you're not good at defending. [LNB]'When I became a right back, my coach told me to look at Neville and Cole. Cole for going forward and Neville for the defending.' [LNB]Modern-day full backs can no longer merely be good defenders. Walker, 20, joined Sheffield United at the age of seven and became one of their most highly rated youngsters. [LNB]Queens Park Rangers manager Neil Warnock took him on loan last September, where he made 20 appearances in four months.[LNB] 'Kyle is a super athlete, good as anyone around going forward but still has a bit to learn on the defensive side,' Warnock told Sportsmail. [LNB]'I first saw Kyle when he was around 12 or 13 and the first thing that struck me about him then was his sheer enthusiasm. [LNB]'He played everywhere. When they are that good, the player will always find their rightful position.' [LNB] Walker had been blossoming as a striker before he was turned into one of the country's brightest full backs. [LNB]His long-range goal in Saturday's 2-2 draw against Fulham, and first league goal, was a glimpse of what could have been. [LNB]He said: 'I've been frustrated not to score more goals but it's not my job any more. 'I was converted to a defender in my second year of scholarship. It was Sheffield United's idea. I was small and it benefited me. 'I've grown a bit since then.'
