According to talkSPORT, Karim El Ahmadi is set to become the first signing of Paul Lambert's era at Aston Villa after revealing the move is close.

According to the newspaper De Telegraaf, El Ahmadi has flown over to England to discuss terms over a potential move. The Moroccan enjoyed a promising season at Feyenoord this season and spent some time on loan at Dubai club Ah Ahli the previous season.

The midfielder said he didn't have to think twice about a move after hearing interest from Villa. "This is a dream for every player. "I was on the verge of extending my contract but then this came along. I am 27, that's an age where you can look for a new challenge. "For me the Premier league is the best league in the world. I didn't have to think long about it."

Lambert has expressed desire to land the Moroccan: “We’re in talks at this moment, those talks are ongoing and we hope to reach a positive conclusion with Feyenoord and the player," he said. "He can pass the ball well and he could be an important player for us in central midfield. Let’s see how things progress. We’re very hopeful.”
