Jewell keen on Beye

Ipswich boss Paul Jewell has confirmed his interest in signing Aston Villa defender Habib Beye. Jewell has been keen to bring a new right-back to the club since he replaced Roy Keane at the helm and missed out on a target recently when Pascal Chimbonda joined Championship leaders QPR. Jewell has now turned his attention to Beye, who has made just seven league starts for Villa since joining from Newcastle in 2009. He said: "We are trying to bring a couple of players into the squad, as I have been since I've been here. "Habib Beye has been mentioned and I've spoken to Aston Villa and that's something I've been trying to do to improve the squad. But there's been nothing yet. "He was in France [on Wednesday]. I hope he comes but I have not heard anything since Wednesday."
