Jamie Redknapp's weekend watch: Chelsea's petulant side resurfaces

They are out of the Carling Cup and their lead at the top of the Premier League is down to two points.[LNB] There were also signs at Manchester City of their old petulance returning. I wrote last week of their quality and power. This was their other, less appealing side.[LNB]FOLLOW SPARKYMark Hughes has got Emmanuel Adebayor working harder, but he still has so much more to give and he has not recaptured the form from earlier in the season when he was terrorising defenders.[LNB] He could follow the example of his Manchester City team-mate Carlos Tevez, or watch dvds of when his manager played.[LNB]MIDLANDS MAGICWhat a weekend for the Midlands clubs. Wolves and manager Mick McCarthy (right) had the pick of the results with their 2-1 win against Bolton that could kick-start their season as they bid to move out of the bottom three. [LNB]Birmingham won again, this time away to Wigan, and are in an excellent run of form while Aston Villa made it a hat-trick of victories by beating Hull.[LNB]WINGING IT How do you get three wingers in one team? Aston Villa seem able to do it. [LNB]In the last two games Stewart Downing, James Milner and Ashley Young have started and scored seven goals between them. [LNB]All three are versatile and English. Since they went 5-0 up against Burnley last week, they have conceded seven goals without reply - three for Burnley, four for Manchester United on Saturday. [LNB]They have big holes in their back four and manager Gianfranco Zola is heading for a relegation battle. They need striker Carlton Cole back soon.[LNB]DARRON DELIGHT I like Darron Gibson, the Manchester United midfielder with an eye for a long-range goal. He strikes the ball like Paul Scholes and I wonder if Sir Alex Ferguson has found another player from his production line. [LNB]It gets harder for players to force their way through, especially at the bigger clubs. Gibson seems to have what it takes.[LNB] Lightning strikes twice: Darron Gibson scores a long-range screamer against West Ham at Upton Park, following Paul Scholes' example earlier in the game[LNB]GET WELL, JIM Sad news about Hull midfielder Jimmy Bullard, who is a smashing lad and someone I have a lot of time for. It looks like he suffered medial ligament damage against Aston Villa, a cruel blow after just returning from a cruciate injury. [LNB]When I spoke to him on Saturday night he was down, but not out. He's a popular player and we all wish him well. Football is better for having him around.
