Hutton: Villa have nothing to prove

Alan Hutton insists Aston Villa have nothing to prove against Bournemouth at the weekend as they attempt to avoid an FA Cup upset.

The defender rejected suggestions the Cherries are favourites ahead of their fourth-round clash at Villa Park on Sunday.

Bournemouth have scored more league goals in the Second City than Villa this season thanks to their 8-0 win at Birmingham in October and have netted 57 times in the Sky Bet Championship.

Villa have hit just seven goals in 11 Barclays Premier League matches at home this term.

The Villans have won just three times in their last 19 games but, ahead of Sunday's match against Eddie Howe's title chasers, Hutton insists they do not feel any extra pressure.

"If anything they are the ones who will have to come out and beat us," he said.

"I don't think we have anything to prove or they are a bigger team than us.

"We want to go far no matter who we come across.

"We know it is going to be a tough game but it will be different from the Blackpool game (in the third round). They sat in and tried to hit us on the break.

"This weekend will be a lot different because they are flying and scoring a lot of goals.

"I think they will come out and try and give us a game.

"We will go out to give our all and hopefully it is a good game of football."

And Hutton believes an FA Cup run can help lift Villa's unhappy fanbase.

A section of supporters have chanted for the head of manager Paul Lambert in their last three games.

"Everyone loves the days out and the cup games," said the right-back. "We want to be in there to try and win a trophy of course.

"We will be going out to give a good performance.

"I was at Tottenham when we won the Carling Cup (in 2008) and the year after we got to the final and got beaten on penalties.

"When we won the cup it was in my first year down here at Wembley and was about my third or fourth game.

"The following year I was injured for the final.

"After we won the cup we never had the best run that season. We were just 10th and there was too big a gap to do anything. It was a great experience to play against Chelsea at Wembley though."
