Houllier set for Carew talks

Aston Villa boss Gerard Houllier will hold talks with John Carew on Monday after being on the receiving end of an outburst from the striker.[LNB] Carew accused Houllier in an interview in his native country of being disrespectful after being challenged to prove he deserved a new contract.[LNB]Houllier responded after Saturday's 1-1 draw at Fulham by saying Carew was "stupid" and to stop "living in the past."[LNB]Carew is already sidelined for a month with a torn calf muscle suffered in training ahead of the trip to Craven Cottage. But it remains to be seen whether his outburst will mean the end of his Villa career.[LNB]Houllier confirmed: "I shall be speaking to him (Carew), of course."[LNB]Carew had previously played under Houllier at Lyon before moving to Villa in January 2007 in a swap deal with Milan Baros.[LNB]He has been Villa's leading scorer for the past three seasons and was on target 17 times during the 2009-2010 campaign.[LNB]But Carew has failed to find the net in eight appearances this season and looked a shadow of his former self.[LNB]Carew's injury left Houllier without a single senior striker for the clash with the Cottagers when England Under-21 player Nathan Delfouneso led the attack.[LNB]But Gabriel Agbonlahor could soon be back available after resuming training following his groin operation a month ago.[LNB]Houllier said: "Gabby is a matter of days now. He's getting back to the fitness levels he should be at."
