Heskey: Young will rediscover form

Young has enjoyed an excellent season and was named PFA Young Player of the Year last weekend. The 23-year-old's performances have not been so eye-catching in recent weeks, with Villa losing some momentum and dropping back to sixth in the Premier League table. Heskey is not at all worried about Young, however, and is excited about what he might have to offer over the coming years. "He is a great player. He has got so much potential and he is fulfilling that at the moment," Heskey told Sky Sports News. "He is up there with the best of them and hopefully he can keep that progress going. "You can say he has faded a little bit but he is only 23 or 24 and you are never going to have a season where it is going to be highs all the time. "He is that good a player and that strong a character, he can always come back from that." Heskey, meanwhile, has expressed his delight at becoming an increasingly important figure in the England side under Fabio Capello. The powerful forward has been a regular starter over the past 12 months and has often earned plaudits for his selfless displays. But he accepts that he will need to keep proving himself if he is to remain in the side, with competition for places always fierce. "I am really pleased. Being around the England set-up is brilliant," he said. "There are still a lot of other strikers that are in contention and the manager is obviously going to keep his options open."
