Heskey out of England squad

England have confirmed that Emile Heskey has withdrawn from their squad ahead of Wednesday's World Cup qualifier against Ukraine.

Heskey was forced off after just 14 minutes of England's 4-0 win over Slovakia - after opening the scoring.

Scans have now confirmed that there is a problem with the striker's left hamstring and he has returned to Aston Villa.

Tottenham's Darren Bent has already been called into the squad for extra cover following Carlton Cole's thigh strain, while Peter Crouch's fitness is also a worry.

Coach Fabio Capello, who has already ruled out call-ups for Michael Owen and Kevin Davies, could be left with few options as the only fully-fit forward from his initial squad is Wayne Rooney.
