He is a Fab new signing for O'Neill, but who is £8m Villa capture Fabian Delph?

Tough-tackling, not yet 20 and made in England... made for Martin O'Neill's Aston Villa more like. Hold your horses, Fabian Delph has all the credentials to be a Premier League star but he's still unproven - he's only played one full season in the Leeds first team. And remember, they have fallen all the way to League One. So why were Villa willing to gamble so much cash on this 19-year-old? For starters, the lad can play. He's best deployed as a marauding midfielder - check out his wonder goal against Brighton for proof of that - but with a sweet left foot and an eye for a pass, not to mention a blistering turn of pace, he may make a left winger yet.  A winger? He picked up 13 yellow cards last season, that's hardly the form of a fancy-dan wide man. True, but those bookings were not all he earned last term. He scooped the Football League Young Player of the Year and was named in the PFA League One team of the season. Stuart Pearce gave him an England U21 substitute appearance against Czech Republic three days before his 19th birthday. A fans favourite then? Elland Road sing a special Fabian Delph song to the tune of The Addams Family theme in which they claim he's better than Robinho.
