After contriving to throw away Aston Villa's shot at a Champions League place, canny manager Martin O'Neill is now selling a sob story. When it comes to challenging the top clubs again next season, he said: 'We won't be able to compete financially. We are trying to run this as a business at this minute. That is difficult. 'It is a tough old business. Financially it is tough out there - and weare not going to be running this club in the manner of some otherclubs.' Of course not Martin, a bit like last summer. You won't be throwing large sums of money around. As you say, finding other ways to compete is the fun bit. (Don't worry, the £45million plus you have spent on new signings for this season will be our little secret.)
