HATCHET MAN: Barry may have a short memory but we have not forgotten your act of betrayal

03 February 2009 12:59
Aston Villa's fantastic season so far seems to have left Gareth Barry re-writing history. After spending the summer doing almost everything he could to leave the club for Liverpool, the upturn in Villa's fortunes has left him claiming he is not the sort of player who would step out of line.[LNB] [LNB]Selective memory: Gareth Barry[LNB]   More from Hatchet Man... HATCHET MAN: Big Sam will have his work cut out to keep Santa Cruz on board[LNB]03/02/09 HATCHET MAN: Quaresma was too flamboyant for Jose, so he should lift the gloom at Chelsea[LNB]03/02/09 HATCHET MAN: Liverpool offloading Keane during the title run-in is pure madness[LNB]03/02/09 HATCHET MAN: Faubert to Real Madrid can't be a very Wise move for the Spanish giants[LNB]02/02/09 HATCHET MAN: Relegate referee Riley after his Anfield nightmare[LNB]02/02/09 HATCHET MAN: If Pompey pick Avram you can take it for Granted they are going down[LNB]02/02/09 HATCHET MAN: Business as usual at White Hart Lane as senseless Spurs splash the cash[LNB]02/02/09 HATCHET MAN: Oh dear! Birmingham new recruit Costly is the transfer window's poster boy[LNB]30/01/09 VIEW FULL ARCHIVE[LNB]  Barry said: 'The Liverpool things seems like years ago now. It can go through your head what others have done to get away from a club, but that was just not the reputation I would have wanted.'[LNB]No, Barry would never take his gripes with Villa public and tell the world his next move in a newspaper interview such as the one he gave the News of the World last June.[LNB]'My mind's made up, I want to join Liverpool,' he said then. 'There's no going back, it's time for me to move on. I'm desperate to play Champions League football and that's why I have to leave Villa.[LNB]'It's seven weeks now since the season finished but while the gaffer's found time to be a pundit for the BBC at Euro 2008, he hasn't found the time to speak  to me. But Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez has shown how much he wants me at Anfield.' [LNB]Probably best to keep your selective memory to yourself, Gareth.[LNB] [LNB]
