Aston Villa defender Richard Dunne has backed the club's move for Shay Given, saying he is "probably the best shot-stopper there is".[LNB] Given is close to securing a switch to Villa Park from Manchester City as Villa look to lure him to the club as a replacement for Brad Friedel.[LNB]The Republic of Ireland international found himself playing second fiddle to Joe Hart at City last season and he has decided to move on in search of regular first-team football.[LNB]Dunne is a huge admirer of Given and believes he will be a great addition to Alex McLeish's side next season.[LNB]"Shay is probably the best shot-stopper there is and over the years has consistently been one of the best keepers in the league," Dunne told the Sunday Mirror. "I know he will help us. He's always talking, encouraging people, telling them where to be watching, what to be doing, and he keeps defenders on their toes. I think he'll be good.[LNB]"We've been international team-mates for 10 years and I can't remember him having a bad game.[LNB]"I can't think of anybody better to be replacing Brad Friedel, who has been excellent for this club.[LNB]"Shay has not played many club games recently but he's played every international. When he's turned up he's been brilliant. [LNB]"He played three or four at the end of the season and didn't concede a goal.[LNB]"He always keeps himself fit and charged, so I don't think that'll be a worry."[LNB]Dunne added: "I spoke to Shay and he just wanted to get started. He was frustrated over the way things have gone.[LNB]"I know him. He will come in and within a week it'll seem like he's been here a long time."
