Gerard Houllier to take charge of Aston Villa after Bolton match

Gerard Houllier will finally take charge of Aston Villa after Saturday's home match against Bolton.

Houllier has reached an agreement with the French Football Federation to leave his post as technical director.

The 63-year-old Frenchman missed Monday's defeat against Stoke as he had prior commitments in his homeland and he will watch Saturday's game from the stands.

Kevin MacDonald will pick the side for the final time before Houllier officially takes the reins on Monday morning.

Blackburn Rovers provide the opposition for Houllier's first match when Sam Allardyce's side arrive at Villa Park in the Carling Cup next Wednesday night.
