Gerard Houllier insists he is the right person to lead Aston Villa to Barclays Premier League safety despite more calls from supporters for him to be sacked.[LNB]The former Liverpool boss had to endure a level of hostility he admits to never suffering before in his career during and after Villa's 1-0 home defeat against Wolves. [LNB] Under fire: But Houllier insists he is the right man to lead Villa to safety [LNB]Fans chanted 'Houllier out' and 'you're getting sacked in the morning' at the final whistle after cries of 'you don't know what you're doing' when substituting Marc Albrighton. [LNB]It was a similar scenario two months ago after a home defeat by Sunderland which saw Villa drop into the bottom three. [LNB]Time's up: The Villa fans called for Houllier's head [LNB]But Houllier survived that onslaught, signed Darren Bent for a club record ?24million, and remains confident now he can steer Villa away from the threat of relegation.[LNB]He said: 'We need 10 points (to be safe) and we will get them. I am confident about that. [LNB]'Everyone is concerned about the fact we are going through a tough period.' We are all worried. The players are worried and that is part of the nervousness we showed at times against Wolves. [LNB]'I didn't feel the team was as free as it used to be. The first goal played a part and affected the morale and confidence of the team. [LNB]'We know we have some players who are suspended or injured and at some stage they will come back.'[LNB] Houllier added: 'We have quality players and I think we will (survive). I am convinced we have everything it takes. [LNB]'It will be a fight but 'game on.' I would love to have something different to aim at but that's what it is. [LNB]'Let's be realistic. I am not a dreamer, by far. 'We have quality in the team but at the moment it looks as if it is an unlucky period. We hope that will stop very quickly.[LNB]'At Bolton last weekend, we should have won. There are a few games we should have won.'[LNB] Houllier admits he understands the frustration of the fans who have been accustomed in recent seasons to Villa challenging for a European spot. [LNB] Matt finish: Jarvis scores the only goal of the game to condemn Villa to a sorry home defeat [LNB]He said: 'The players know had we won it would have been different. Let's win a couple of games and then it will be different? [LNB]'But just reassure the fans, I know what I am doing. 'The fans call for your head but this is what happens when you don't get the results. You have to live with that.'[LNB]  Aston Villa 0 Wolves 1: Jarvis gives Houllier's boo boys further ammunition Spirited Wolves seek to pile the pressure on Villa boss HoullierAston Villa FC news, features and opinion  Explore more:People: Darren Bent, Gerard Houllier Places: Liverpool
