Aston Villa forward Gabriel Agbonlahor has praised the team ethic being instilled in the squad by new manager Paul Lambert. Lambert took over at Villa Park ahead of the new season and welcomed England international Agbonlahor back from injury against Newcastle at the weekend.

The 25-year-old, who has played over 200 league games for Villa, revealed the former Norwich boss has been encouraging teamwork in training. "What he's trying to build into us is that if someone gives the ball away you don't moan, you just go and win it back for your friend," he told the Birmingham Mail.

"We've been working on that a lot in training and games and I think that mentality will help. "He's said to us when you lose the ball then it's nice to have a friend who's there to come and help you win it back and then you can do the same for him."
