Frustration for Luke Young as Villa defender is sent home injured

Aston Villa defender Luke Young has flown home from his club's pre-season trip to Spain for treatment on a persistent thigh injury.   The England full back will return to the Villans' Bodymoor Heath training centre after suffering several recurrences of the problem.   'It's been a really frustrating pre-season for Luke,' manager Martin O'Neill told the club's official website. 'He looked like he was going to be fit on a number of occasions but he has had setbacks.   'He trained exceptionally hard two days ago and then yesterday (Monday) he didn't last too long.   'We have sent him home now to do some rehabilitation work. We think that is the best thing to do.' O'Neill also confirmed that another defender, Wilfred Bouma, was still some way from a return to action following an ankle injury.   He added: 'Freddy is doing pretty well. It was a setback some months ago to find out he had floating particles in his ankle - nothing to do with the operation he had - but that has been cleared out now.   'It's just taking a little bit of time and that is frustrating for Freddy and for us too. He will be a few more weeks yet.'
