Former Villa skipper Godfrey dies

Former Wales international Brian Godfrey has died at the age of 69 following a long battle with cancer.Flint-born Godfrey won three caps for Wales, scoring two goals, in 1964-5. [LNB]The inside forward played for Everton, Scunthorpe United, Preston North End, Aston Villa, Bristol Rovers, Newport County and Portland Timbers (USA). [LNB]He then went into management with Exeter City, Bath City, Weymouth and Gloucester, before retiring to Northern Cyprus five years ago, where he died. [LNB]Godfrey was 12th man for Preston at Wembley in the 1964 FA Cup final and played for Aston Villa in the League Cup final of 1971.
