Dunne involved in Republic practice

Richard Dunne took part in a practice match at the end of the Republic of Ireland's training session on Monday morning.

The 33-year-old Aston Villa defender has not played a game all season because of a persistent groin injury, but met up with his national squad ahead of Wednesday night's friendly against England at Wembley.

Manager Giovanni Trapattoni has already indicated that he will take no part against Roy Hodgson's men, but he could be involved against Georgia on Sunday.

The Italian is yet to rule Dunne out of next Friday night's World Cup qualifier against the Faroe Islands in Dublin, although he has insisted he would only be involved if he was 100 per cent fit.

Glenn Whelan and James McCarthy, who are nursing calf and hamstring problems respectively, were also able to train, but defender Marc Wilson, who also has a calf problem, worked alone with the physios at Watford's London Colney base.
