Darren Bent says Aston Villa are starting to find their feet ahead of Sunderland trip

Darren Bent believes Aston Villa are starting to find their feet ahead of their trip to Sunderland this weekend.

Paul Lambert's side have endured a disappointing run of league games so far, suffering their worst start to a campaign for 43 years. But after defeating Swindon in the Capital One Cup fourth-round, Bent is confident Villa can impress in what is a tough November with fixtures against Arsenal and both Manchester sides.

"I think we're getting closer. We're getting chances but we're not finishing teams off," said Bent.

"We are turning the corner and I think someone will get a hiding off us one day. I think we will turn things around sooner rather than later.

"It's good when you have good players in the side like Stevie and Brett. Karim's done well, Gabby creates stuff and Christian wins headers.

"We have players who can create, we just need to create some rhythm and rapport in the team. Then it becomes second nature.

"Ashley Young and Stewart Downing were ideal. But they were like a luxury. It was fantastic but they've gone now. We have more than enough players to create chances."
