Stoke City are trying to splash a combined £22million on four players in a stunning bid to become an established Barclays Premier League force. Clubs like Manchester United and Liverpool may not be spending, but Stoke completed the signing of the first of their targets on Thursday night, securing Middlesbrough's defender Robert Huth for £5m. The deal is part of a joint £10m offer accepted by Middlesbrough for forward Tuncay Sanli and Huth. They are also close to sealing a £2m deal for Sunderland's Wales defender Danny Collins. And Stoke manager Tony Pulis has left a £10m bid on the table for Trinidad and Tobago striker Kenwyne Jones - although it has been rejected. The offer, one of the most eye-catching of the summer, will stun Stoke's rivals.
