The Midlands club are again challenging strongly and Tuesday's win over Wigan means they are only three pooints behind fourth-placed Tottenham and with a game in hand.
And Carew is adamant Villa can last the pace until the end of the campaign.
The Norwegian international said: "We have a bigger squad than last season and there have been more players playing this year compared to before.
"The players are super-fit and we've learned from last year when we didn't manage to maintain the level of performance for the whole season. I'm sure this season we're going to be able to maintain the high standards all the way through to May, keep picking up points and be in there fighting for fourth place."
